Vice President of Construction
Rich Beattie is a Desert Storm veteran with an extensive background in mechanical engineering.
After his Desert Storm tour with the Marine Corps, Rich joined The Trane Company as a system consultant, responsible for the design, selection, specification and sale of applied HVACR and control systems.
From there, he moved on to a large mechanical contracting firm as a project engineer. By 2003, he had risen to Vice President of Construction, where he was responsible for the day-to-day management of a $20 million mechanical engineering and construction division. In 2003, he and partner Fred Kawa started MEC².
Along with a Top Secret clearance from his time in the Marine Corps, Rich holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from Gannon University, and a Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
Sales Engineer
Fred Kawa is a senior engineer, manager and LEED® Accredited Professional.
Fred is knowledgeable about both mechanical systems and the people who design, build and maintain them.
Even before graduating from college, Fred began honing his engineering, management and quality control skills with a four-month co-op stint at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. From there, he managed a four-state territory for CNA Insurance’s Large Risk Division, inspecting large boilers and pressure vessels.
Moving to an established mechanical subcontracting firm, he quickly rose to Sales Engineer, handling everything from design and client relations to estimating, sales, cost management and directing field personnel. In 2003 he started MEC² with Rich Beattie.
As well as national and state licenses in boiler and pressure vessel inspection, Fred holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology.
